THE COMMITTEE TO ELECT JON FETHERSTON
Three weeks ago The Committee to Elect Jon Fetherston placed 110 yard signs in Ashland. Sadly, since then almost 40 of them have been either stolen or cut up into several pieces by unknown person(s). Many more signs have been pulled from the ground and discarded in adjacent woods. We have replaced all signs and will continued to do so until November 6th. Further we have followed all the local and state regulations by placing them in locations on private property with permission from owners or those in authority. This destruction has been aimed at Mr. Fetherston as other political signs at the same locations have been untouched. Jon Fetherston has directed all his volunteers to respect our opponent and everyone's property. All have agreed. We don't know who is doing this, but they are thieves and vandals. Since the property damage is over $250, they are felons. They are also violating Massachusetts campaign laws by interfering with a legitimate political campaign. Unfortunately, they are most likely Ashland residents and therefore could be our neighbors.
What can the citizens of Ashland do? First, stand up and not tolerate this lawlessness. Second, if you see something, say something. Contact the Ashland Police Department immediately at 508 881-1212. Try to record as many details such as descriptions, vehicle make/model, and license plate numbers. DO NOT try to interfere or apprehend them as they may be dangerous. Again, contact the Ashland Police as soon as possible.
