Framingham resident Matthew Henderson received the All-College Academic Excellence Award, along with the Divisional Award from the Division of Transportation and Energy at Massachusetts Bay Community College’s 50th Commencement Exercises on Thursday May 24th

Mr. Henderson earned a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average, and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology with a BMW concentration.

The All-College Academic Excellence Award is the most prestigious academic award at MassBay Community College.  It is presented annually to the associate degree graduate who achieved the highest grade point average of the graduating class. The award consists of a plaque and an honorarium of $500 provided by the MassBay Foundation.

Mr. Henderson served in the United States Army for 6 ½ years and was twice deployed to Iraq.  He has the goal of becoming a BMW Master Technician and hopes to one day become a shop foreman.  Matthew credits his success to his concentration and focus, and thanks the Veterans Administration, his wife, and his family for all of their support.

Divisional Awards are presented to the student who achieved the highest grade point average in each of the College’s five academic divisions: Health Sciences; Humanities; Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics; Social Sciences & Professional Studies; and Transportation & Energy.  These awards consist of a plaque and an honorarium of $250 provided by the MassBay Foundation.
