Greyhound Friends Expands Services to Care for Other Dog Breeds

Hopkinton animal welfare nonprofit Greyhound Friends is now caring for numerous other breeds of dogs from mid-western states including Beagles, Hound Mix and Walker Hounds. The greyhound breed is still the charity’s main focus.

The dogs are transported to Greyhound Friends for vet care, isolated for 48 hours, and either adopted out of the facility or brought to other area shelters with the goal of placing the dogs in forever homes. One of those waiting to be adopted into a loving home is Trooper, a shepherd mix who survived a gunshot wound. Trooper was rescued by a small Kentucky county-run shelter and transported to Greyhound Friends for further care. Greyhound Friends quickly said yes to rescuing Trooper when they heard of his plight.

Greyhound Friends Inc.is a small non-profit organization dedicated to saving racetrack greyhounds and placing them in responsible loving homes. Since its inception in 1983, Greyhound Friends has found homes for more than 9000 dogs! Please call 508-435-5969 or visit www.greyhound.org for more information.
