5 Things You Need To Know Today: Aug. 28
It's back to school for some students today and most of Framingham tomorrow.
Our daily column, 5 Things You Need to Know Today, will help you to get your day started and offer you some fodder for water cooler conversation.
1. Tomorrow, Framingham Pubic School students head back to school, but today freshman attend orientation at Framingham High School. There is a kindergarten meet & greet at 1:30 p.m. for Dunning Elementary. There is an open house at the Christa McAuliffe Regional Charter Public Middle School from 10 a.m. to noon.
3. Today is the one-year anniversary of when Hurricane Irene hit Framingham. At the height of the storm three out of every four homes were without power. By the next day, still half of the town was withoit power. Patch look back at the storm and its effects.
4. A memorial service was held yesterday for former Framingham School Committee chair Philip Dinsky. He died Friday. A memorial observance will be held at his residence today and tomorrow from 4-8 p.m.
5. Framingham Selectmen are scheduled to meet tonight at 7 in the Memorial Building. The meeting may not start on time, as selectmen are having a closed session meeting starting at 5:30 with 9 items on the agenda.
