5 Things You Need To Know Today: Jan. 21

A member of the Framingham High School Class of 2009 will be marching in the inaugural parade today.

 

Our daily column, 5 Things You Need to Know Today, will help you to get your day started and offer you some fodder for water cooler conversation.

1. Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. To see what is open and what is closed, click here.

2. Greater Framingham Community Church  will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., at its 26th Annual Memorial Breakfast today at 8 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Natick. The theme of this year’s breakfast is The Search for Character, Civility and Community.

3. The Danforth Museum of Art will host a Martin Luther King Day Family Open House event today at 1 p.m.
 

4. Yesterday, President Barack Obama was sworn in for his second term; but today is the big inauguration celebration and parade in Washington DC.

Framingham High School Class of 2009 graduate Julie Stabile, a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy, is marching in the inaugural parade today. Her mother Barbara Stabile and fellow Framingham resident Audrey Hall will there to watch her in today's historic event.

5. And bundle up if you head outside today. It will be cold and temperatures are expected to drop all week. Forecasters also say we could get 2-4 inches of snow tonight into Tuesday morning -- just in time to head back to work and kids to head back to school.
