1. Massachusetts Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing tonight at 7 in the Blumer Community Room in the Memorial Building to discuss the proposed bridge replacement of Winter Street over the CSX/MBTA railroad.

The proposed project consists of the complete replacement of the existing bridge with a new single span structure. The new bridge will be widened to provide for turning lanes at the Waverly and Fountain Street intersections. At the Waverly Street intersection, the existing signal will be modified and a new signal will be constructed at the Fountain Street intersection with right turning lanes at the Winter Street approaches. Winter Street will be constructed with a 5-foot shoulder on each side of the road to accommodate bicycles and a new sidewalk will be constructed across the bridge on the east side of Winter Street. The widened portion of the project is to be constructed on the east side of the existing bridge while the existing bridge and traffic flow under normal conditions. Upon completion of the widened portion of the bridge, Winter Street will be closed between Waverly and Fountain Streets and a detour will be put in place to allow for the construction of the remaining portion of the bridge.
