5 Things You Need To Know Today: July 5

Frogs, politics, yoga, the Farmer's Market and a new spot to perform karaoke are included in today's Five Things column.

 

Our daily column, 5 Things You Need to Know Today, will help you to get your day started and offer you some fodder for water cooler conversation.

1. Framingham Farmer's Market  is open today from noon to 5:30 p.m. on the Framingham Centre Common, at Edgell Road and Vernon Street. This week's vendors include Copicut Farm, EL Silvia Farm, Flats Mentor Farm, Globe Fish, Handmade Soaps by Jennifer Hoffman, Hanson Farm, Hillside Beef, Lemonade by When Life Gives you Lemons, Natick Organic Farm, Nobscot Artisan Cheese, Pasta by Fior Ditalia, Velma's Kettle Corn, Westminster Meat, Honey products by Sandra Gumz, Hedgie's Hot Sauce and Zoll Cellars Wine. Remember to stop by the manager's tent to enter the free weekly raffle and tell them you heard about the Farmer's Market on Framingham Patch!

2. The new Open Spirit Center is hosting a 60-minute community yoga class at 9:30 a.m. For all levels of expertise; the teacher will offer modifications to fit a variety of abilities. Cost is by donation. Suggested donation is $12and the center suggests you contribute what you can.

3. Limey's Pub is hosting karaoke tonight at 8, and every Thursday this month.

4. Framingham Frogs swim team opens its season tonight with a meet against Norwood at the pool at Keefe Technical. Come down and cheer on the hundreds of Framingham swimmers. Meet starts at 6.

5.  State representative candidate Jon Fetherston will hold office hours tonight at 158 Pond St. Suite A in Ashland at 6. Fetherston, a Republican, is seeking the 7th District Middlesex County representative seat held by Tom Sannicandro, a Democrat from Ashland. Fetherston is the former chair of the Ashland Selectmen.

Framingham Patch will begin running a political notebook in anticipation of the November election. Candidates can begin sending items for the notebook to susan.petroni@patch.com. The notebook will run every Friday.

@ Dave - it's a great little farmer's market and seems to be growing. Do you think if they stayed open a little bit later, it might help those who work 9-5? My favorite is the fresh fish that Terri sells!!! YUM!
