5 Things You Need To Know Today: June 6

Congrats to both the Framingham High softball and baseball teams, who pulled out one-run playoff wins Tuesday. Both teams travel for playoff games today.

 

Our daily column, 5 Things You Need to Know Today, will help you to get your day started and offer you some fodder for water cooler conversation.

1. Framingham High baseball team defeated #5 ranked BC High 3-2 Tuesday. The Flyers were ranked #12 in the tourney. They will now travel to play fourth-ranked Barnstable today at 4 p.m. The winner moves on to the semifinals of the South Division 1 tournament. Go Flyers!

2. And congrats to the Framingham Flyers softball team, who defeated the Crimson Tide of Everett Tuesday 6-5. They will travel to Malden to play the Malden High Tornadoes, ranked #1 in the tourney at 3:30 p.m. today

3. From Framingham High Principal Michael Welch's newsletter ... out of this year's senior class only 10 students did not graduate. 501 students received their diplomas Sunday at Bowditch Field. Parents & students: Please upload your graduation photos here.

4. McCarthy Elementary School is doing a fundraiser book fair today to raise money for the school's guided reading program. Students in grades 2-3-4 will recite original poems on at 10 a.m.

5. Fuller Middle School is holding its choral concert at 7 p.m.

UPDATE: Malden High Girls Softball defeated Framingham in the state quarterfinals 6-0. Congrats to a great season Flyers! Girls made the playoffs for the first time since 2004!
