5 Things You Need To Know Today: March 2

I Love Framingham event at Framingham High, World Day of Prayer service at Edwards Church today and lots of drama -- Dark of the Moon, Once Upon a Mattress and the Jungle Book Kids -- featured in today's column.

Our daily column, 5 Things You Need to Know Today, will help you to get your day started and offer you some fodder for water cooler conversation.

1. Break a leg to the Framingham High School Drama Company. The Company will compete in the Massachusetts Drama Festival today. Students will travel to Sharon High to perform Dark of the Moon at 10 a.m. in the preliminary round of the Festival. Three high schools from each venue in the preliminaries will move on to the semifinal round.

2. Transition Framingham, a grass-roots organization comprised of people who live and work in Framingham looking for ways to increase resilience and sustainability in a world of growing population and shrinking resources, will hold a I Love Framingham event at Framingham High School today from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The public is invited to the event, which will focus on brainstorming ways to create a better Framingham. Coffee, danishes, lunch and cake will be provided, and there will be activities for children. For a complete schedule, click here.

3. Walsh Middle School students take to the stage tonight for the second of three performances of Once Upon A Mattress. Curtain raises at 7. Tickets still available.

4. The Barbieri Elementary School Drama Club will present The Jungle Book Kids today. There are two performances - the yellow cast at 10 a.m. and the red cast at 1 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door - $3 each. The performance is in both English and Spanish. There are two additional shows on Sunday at 1 and 4 p.m.

5. Edwards Church is holding a World Day of Prayer Service and Supper today.
