5 Things You Need To Know Today: Sept. 4
Update on technology in the schools at tonight's School Committee Meeting, Zombie auditions, tickets on sale for Dennis Lehane author event and grandparents day storytime featured in today's column.
Our daily column, 5 Things You Need to Know Today, will help you to get your day started and offer you some fodder for water cooler conversation.
1. Framingham School Committee is scheduled to meet tonight at 7:30 in the King Building. This will be the first meeting since school started and new Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott will give an update on how the first week went an on new staffing. Also on the agenda is a report from the technology department on new infrastructure.
2. Tonight is the last night to audition for Zombie Prom, the musical, will be held at the Performing Arts Center of MetroWest. Students entering grades 7-12 can audition between 6-9 p.m. Students should prepare either one 32-bar excerpt of a song or two 16-bar excerpts of two different songs. Be prepared to dance. Bring a resume and headshot. Please call ahead if possible 508-875-5554. Walk-ins are also welcome. $25 non-refundable audition fee to be applied to tuition of $375. Rehearsals will be Tuesdays & Thursdays 6-9 p.m., with show dates Oct. 26-28.
3. Barnes & Noble is hosting a Grandparents Day Storytime at 10:30 a.m.
4. First Parish In Framingham will hold Messiah Open Rehearsals by Heritage Chorale tonight at 7:45.
5. Tickets go on sale today for the Framingham Public Library Foundation fundraiser featuring author and Boston-area native Dennis Lehane. The event is Saturday, Oct. 6, from 7-9 p.m. A coffee and dessert reception will be followed by a talk and a book signing by Lehane, a passionate supporter of public libraries. Tickets are on sale beginning today at the main library and the McAuliffe branch library at $30 each.
