Press release from AAA Southern New England
Gas prices continue to fall in Massachusetts, down another two cents this week and 11 cents over the last three weeks, according to a survey by AAA Southern New England, which has an office in Framingham.
AAA’s Aug. 22 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.649 per gallon, down two cents from a week ago.
The current price is eight cents above the national average for self serve unleaded of $3.56. A year ago at this time, the Massachusetts average price was $2.68.
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 53 cents, from a low of $3.42 to a high of $3.95.
AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week: Plan ahead. When running errands, try to combine multiple tasks into one trip. Several short trips starting with a cold engine each time can use twice as much gas as a longer multipurpose trip covering the same distance when the engine is warm. Also, plan the route in advance to drive the fewest miles.
