Framingham State University will host award-winning photographer and
documentarian Dan Habib on Wednesday, Feb. 13, as part of the President’s
Distinguished Lecture Series.

Habib is the filmmaker in residence at the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire.

His award-winning documentary film, Including Samuel, chronicles the Habib family's efforts to include his son Samuel, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, in every facet of their lives and in his elementary school.

Habib’s second film, Who Cares About Kelsey? will make viewers reconsider the ―problem kids in their own high schools and spark new conversations about an education revolution that’s about empowering—not overpowering—our most emotionally and behaviorally challenged youth.

Habib will screen each film, followed by a discussion:

The screenings and discussions are free and open to the public. They will take
place in the McCarthy Center Forum. This event is wheelchair accessible.

The President’s Distinguished Lecture Series was created in 2011 to bring scholars from across the country to the University for presentations on thought-provoking issues, ideas and theories. The theme of this year’s series is ―Accepting Others: Finding Common Ground. Each speaker has played a role in challenging stereotypes, breaking down social barriers.
