UPDATED - Police: Drunk Driver Strikes Detail Officer

A Nashua, N.H. woman was arrested Sunday night for OUI, after striking a detail officer, according to Framingham Police.

 

UPDATED 12:45 p.m.

Framingham Police arrested a Nashua, N.H. woman Sunday night at 11 at 100 Concord St.

Maria Barriga, 34, of 107 Pine St. struck a detail officer, at the intersection of Concord and Frederick streets at 10:45 p.m.

The male officer was struck by the front quarter panel of the vehicle and again by the vehicle's mirror according to Framingham Police Lt. Ron Brandolini.

He was taken to MetroWest Medical Center.

The officer has not been identified. The extent of his injuries are unknown, said  Brandolini.

Barriga was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident and refusing to stop for police.

A detail officer was struck at the corner of Concord Street and Frederick Street at 10:45 p.m. Sunday night, according to initial scanner reports. 

Ambulances transported the officer to MetroWest Medical Center. 

Police later stopped a vehicle suspected in the incident, the report said.
