Does Framingham Deserve to Be Ranked #38 Best Place to Live?
Since the announcement, there has been two bank robberies, a stabbing, a shooting and oh yeah Oprah came for a back-to-school shopping spree.
On Monday, CNNMoney said Framingham was the #38 best place to live in America. Since then, Framingham Patch has reported on several major crimes.
Later that Monday afternoon, the TD Bank branch was robbed.
On Tuesday night, a man was stabbed.
On Thursday, a man was arrested and charged with raping a 12-year old girl.
On Friday, the TD Bank branch on Route 9 was robbed.
And Saturday night a man was shot in the head and police had a manhunt for the suspect near Framingham State University and Route 9.
Should Framingham have been ranked so high?

My family and I live in Framingham and love the community. It has a lot to offer. It's not just these reported crimes. We love Cushing Memorial Park. We love the programs at Framingham Parks & Recreation and the main Framingham Library and so much more!
My family loves La Cantina, CJ's NorthSide Grill and J & M Diner. and so many other places to eat in town!

Some folks just don't know how good they have it here in Framingham. I spent this past winter in Florida and grew up in NYC, Framingham in my opinion is a much better place to live. Orange County and Miami-Dade Counties in Florida have a least one shooting per night. In NYC you could almost say the same thing specially in Brooklyn and the Bronx during the summer.

This has been a tough week for Framingham and it also has a state university, a cow farm that is opened to the public, beaches, an art museum, lovely neighborhoods, churches and temples of many denominations, and a 400 acre state park. I'm staying.

Rob P.....You have a pretty good chance of being shot here by the police if they raid your house, 33% chance.
Go to the South side of town and see if you don't change your mind.
The problem with some you people here is you don't read the police blotters or see what's really going on in the town, plus lots of things happen the police cover up.
Sure Framingham has some great places but the crime problem, the illegals etc make Framingham a town of two personalities.
You have to chose what one fits for you. You're going to believe what you want to believe anyway no matter the facts show.

Look Jim, as a retired LEO I could tell you this, Framimgham compared to what I have seen, is much better than many other places in the US. One thing that I've learned is that you are more likely to be shot if you hang around the wrong crowd. As for being shot by police here...please. I do have friends and family on the South Side and not all people living there are criminals. Also, I do read the police blotter and I'm aware of incidents that do not show up there because people are afraid to report them. As any other place in the US you have to be aware of your surroundings specially at night and please do not leave your vehicle unlocked.

Since I moved here a few years ago I knew for a fact the FPD was understaffed. During the day the population goes up due to the malls in the area. Also there are so many calls for traffic accidents during the day. This takes away from coverage for other emergencies. Plus, the dept lost some good people, one became Chief of Police at another town, some went to the State Police, vacation/Leave/injury coverage...IMO 30 is to high of a number.
