UPDATE: 2:44 p.m.

A Framingham man was killed this morning on Route 9.

"It appears a tractor trailer was stopped at the red light on Route 9 westbound at Caldor Road, when a Toyota Camry drove into the rear of the truck," said Framingham Police Lt. Ron Brandolini.

Peter Stark, 62, of 4 Tally Ho Lane was pronounced dead at the scene, said Brandolini.

Stark was the stage director for the Sudbury Savoyards. An announcement about Stark was made on Facebook, in regards to his work at Sudbury Savoyards.

Stark was also affiliated with the Concord Players. He last worked with Concord Players as an offstage voice in HMS Pinafore and an assistant stage manager for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.

A fatal collision between a tractor-trailer and sedan by Ken's Steakhouse in Framingham has closed a portion of Route 9 west. Emergency personnel are on scene.

The call came in at 10:35 a.m. for a car on fire under a tractor-trailer, with one reportedly trapped in the car, according to scanner reports.

Police on scene declined to comment. Natick and Framingham police and fire responded.

Framingham Fire extricated a person from the car; officials said that person has died. He was the only occupant of the Toyota sedan.

Route 9 west was still closed at noon. Traffic is being re-routed through Shopper's World to Route 30.

I think it is disrespectful to the family to post pics of the car. This happened to my grandmother about 8 years ago and to see her car with a tarp on it covering her body was horrible.

It's a news story and this is what is considered news.
As distasteful as it seems to you this is what makes the headlines.
As it was, the police made sure the picture takers were kept far away from the scene.

Hi Jennifer, thank you for your comments and we understand your concerns. At the time we took the photos, no one was in the car.

I have to agree as our family went through something similar. I know images like this are apart of daily life, and I can understand if they were taken as apart of the reconstruction, but those types of pics are generally not available to the public like this. There is even a pic of the car without the tarp and you know there is someone in there. Very sad...my condolences to the family.

Was watching the noontime news and was stunned to see a live shot of the clearly deceased victim sitting behind the wheel in clear view with the door open and firefighters peering inside...voyeurism at its absolute worst. Condolences to any family who has had to endure this.

Laura and and others with squeamish stomachs...
The U.S. media calm and sedate compared to the other countries with what they put on TV.
If this was in South America they would have a close up on the body with the cops standing by.

Comparing squeamish stomachs to the experience of loss of actual human life? Really?? Let us know when you want to add something of value to the discussion...here...in North America, to be specific.

Anita.....Nice to meet you....Just giving an honest opinion. Take a breath.....relax.
Loss of human life is tragic, but it happens all the time, just be thankful you're not in South America or any third world country to experience it.
So do you think your comment added to the discussion? Or was it a way to attack me for giving my honest opinion. Seems a bit hypocritical to me.

I think news should not be edited. If the photo is taken in a manner that is respectful to the family that experienced the loss there's nothing wrong with it. If we start editing our news we're really no better than a country like China where the government decides what news gets out to the public (or parts of the Middle East for that matter). We also can all learn from the photo because driving on Rte 9 every morning is quite dangerous IMHO. I deal with 2 intersections daily where not a single driver observes the YIELD sign (junction of 495 & 9). Hiding photos like this from people is not the way to go. I have yet to see someone actually follow the laws of the road on my commute in. To those of you reading this, yes, you really do have to YIELD when going from 495 N or S onto Route 9. There are cars there in that lane when you gun it. Accidents like this happen and we all can learn from it. You would not believe the idiots I see every single morning on my way to Westboro.

Not everything that is "news" - or everything that CAN be seen or done SHOULD be done!
While "news" photos such as these are possible and legal...they are NOT in good taste and do not show common decency and respect to the victim's familiy and friends. Remember those values???
P.S.: Forget comparisons with South America, the Middle East, etc.....that is not the point AT ALL. - Aren't we as Americans supposed to set the example and hold to the higher ground, not hold the least common denominator, for goodness' sake?!?
Respect and decency,folks...respect and decency.

Ann.....Our you kidding me? Our news already is censored quite a bit...thank you. What you see here is not even close to what the real news really is.
Take politics for example....the news is carefully crafted to show those that the media carrier is told to make look good or look bad. Ron Paul is a good example.
He is the from leader but not according to the media.
Want to see a good movie on how the media works watch Mr. Smith Goes To Washington with James Stewart.
One of the best movies I've ever watched.
Kinda reminds me of what goes on here in Framingham.

I was driving by around 1045 and it was a horrible scene and I was shocked that I was able to see this man in the car driving by because they hadn't covered the vehicle enough....the truth is it is hard to see but it is reality my condolences go out to his family R.I.P. Peter Stark

I don't see any value to this picture. What is lost if we have the story and not the picture of the crash scene? Why does every media outlet, large and small, feel the need to force feed gore upon us? and interview grieving relatives? I'd much rather see a picture of Mr Stark alive with family and friends, or see a sample of his acting.

Condolences to the family.

Melissa.....I guess not seeing the coffins of Americans who died in Iraq, is a good thing too! You can put it out of your mind and dismiss the whole thought.
Yup....wars don't have any consequences.....people don't die, it's all our imagination. We only want good thoughts.....
This horrible accident shows that something went wrong here....and maybe we all will learn a lesson from it.
Maybe he was on the phone or texting, and not paying attention, maybe he had a heart attack. The picture too me says Pay attention.....there could of been lot of things that could of been done to prevent it.
I think we all can learn from tragedy's....don't you think?

@Jim you are correct about media outside US, I grew up in Italy and media showed far more graphic images/pictures than you ever see here.

The Sudbury Savoyards lost a talented leader and friend whom they loved very much. My sympathy and prayers go out to them and to Peter's family. (Let's leave the editorials and opinions for another day) ....Jean Killam (a friend of the Savoyards)
You might want to look into going to the Savoyards' annual show in Feb. which I understand they are going to go ahead with, dedicated to and in memory of Peter. All of their profits go to world hunger.

My son had Peter Stark for a teacher years ago at the Solomon Schechter Day School in Newton. My son always has said that Peter was one of the best, if not the best teacher he had had. PS taught him how to think for himself and to look deeper into the literature and to not just take the words at face value. Also, to question the motives behind the authors in order to better understand the messages they are trying to convey.

If you ever watch the latino channels and other across the sea TV, what they show is pretty hard to take.
On another note....Have you seen the Latino channels around here....Hokie Smokie...the women are all trying to see who can wear the least amount of clothes and get away with it.
Of course the men who watch those channels around here don't complain....LOL
