Flyers Softball in Tourney for First Time Since 2004

Framingham High girls softball team will host the Crimson Tide of Everett Saturday, June 2 at 4 p.m. at the high school.

 

Framingham High girls softball team, with its 14-6 record, have made the post-season for the first time since 2004.

The Flyers will host 9th ranked Crimson Tide of Everett at Winch Field at Framingham High School on Saturday, June 2 at 4 p.m. Everett also finished the season at 14-6.

The #1 seed in the tournament is another team from the Greater Boston League, the Tornadoes of Malden.

The winner of the Everett-Framingham game may face Malden.

Billerica and Woburn are battling later this week for a chance to take on the #1 ranked team and the winner of that game will take on the winner of the Everett-Framingham game.

Okay, it has been a while since I covered the MIAA - but how does a team at 5-15 make the playoffs? What does that teach our youth?

Assume you mean Medford? They only have 3 teams in their league (all the city leagues are divided up like that it seems, and they were 3-3 in league play so they got in with a .500 league record, even though they got lit up by everyone out of league that they played. Either way, I think it's ridiculous as well that a team with that bad of a record can get in just because of the way the city schools are divided up.

I did mean Medford and i think it terrible to make the playoffs with an overall record of 5-15.

I think pretty much everyone but the folks running the MIAA agree with that statement. Should be a minimum .500 record based on 18-20 games whether league or non-league but what do I know?
