Fourth Grader Spends Day as Dunning Elementary Principal

Student Emily Simeone did everything from meetings, to classroom visits to calling the buses at the end of the day.

Dunning Elementary School student Emily Simeone, a fourth grade student, was principal for a day on Thursday, May 31.

Simeone's parents won the prize of "Principal for the Day" at the Dunning Elementary Spring Fling Auction in March.

"Principal Emily" got the chance to tour the school, spend time in classrooms, carry a walkie-talkie, help with the preparations for Monday's kindergarten Orientation, assist with monitoring the cafeteria, sit in on a meeting about summer school, have lunch with Principal Kim Taylor and a few friends, visit the central offices at Fuller Middle School and call buses at the end of the busy day.

Principal Taylor ended the day by thanking Emily for all her hard work and help over the public address system before dismissal.

"It was my pleasure to have her "share" the day with me today.  She had lots of great questions and seemed to thoroughly enjoy herself," said Taylor.
