Framingham-Based HomeGoods Receives 2012 Boston Red Sox Jimmy Fund Award

August is Jimmy Fund Month at Fenway Park, as part of Fenway’s 100th anniversary celebration.

HomeGoods was one of the two recipients of the 2012 Boston Red Sox Jimmy Fund Award, the Jimmy Fund’s highest honor.

Framingham-based HomeGoods was honored for its more than 10 years of support the company has given to the Jimmy Fund, which supports adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

HomeGoods President Ken Canestrari and David Glenn, Senior Vice President, Director of Stores for HomeGoods, accepted the award at Fenway Park on July 16.

Originally called the Yawkey Award – named for the late owners of the Red Sox – the Boston Red Sox Jimmy Fund Award is given annually by the Red Sox to individuals and organizations that have had a substantial commitment to the life-saving mission of Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund.

During the award ceremony, the Red Sox recognized Frank Strauss, founder and Chair of the Expect Miracles Foundation, as the other 2012 recipient for the Foundation’s more than 18 years of support for the Jimmy Fund.

The Jimmy Fund Red Sox Award presentation highlights the longstanding connection between the Jimmy Fund, the Red Sox and Fenway Park.
