Town Manager Bob Halpin has informed Framingham Police Chief Steven Carl, he intends to re-appointed him for another term through June 30, 2016.

Carl's current term ends June 30, 2013.

Halpin, in his report to Framingham Selectmen, said he was required to notify the police chief by February whether he intended to re-appoint him to another 3-year term.

"Carl is an outstanding leader and manager and has been a consistent and valuable contributor to my senior management team in the time I have been in Framingham," said Halpin in his report to Selectmen.

Halpin was hired in 2012 to the position of Town Manager.

Carl became only the fifth chief that the department has operated under since 1911, when he was named chief in June 2001. He began his career in 1983 as a patrolman, rising through the ranks.

Are you out of your mind? Have you listened to the masses? Have you observed the tremendously declining morale on this department? Are you George King? Are you that incompetent? This man has allowed a person to carry a weapon that the State Police would not allow. This man has suspended officers for doing what that officer does on a daily basis. Are you kidding me? Selectmen; Where the heck are you? Do your jobs. I am so sick of this dereliction of duty I may lower myself and run for selectman.
