AAA’s Feb. 6 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.499 per gallon, two cents more than a week ago and 12 cents higher than a month ago.

The current price is one cent above the national average for self serve unleaded of $3.48. A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $3.11.

AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week: Lighten the load. Don’t haul unnecessary weight in the passenger compartment, trunk, or cargo area of your vehicle. A heavier vehicle uses more gas.
