This is what we have to look forward to in the years to come.
Lot's of this is gang and drug related, illegal immigration related too....but the police seem to think we don't have a problem with gangs or illegal immigrants.
They do know that a lot of illegals that come here are the mules for the drug trade.
I guess that's not an important point to bring out. Why get everyone worked up about that small point.
So they say when presenting crime statics and how safe the town is. But when they want extra police officers hired it seems like the drug gang problems are very real. This is called telling the town what they want to hear. This is also why half the people working for the town live OUT of town. They'll take a pay check from the town but they won't live here. Isn't that a testimony of how safe we are here.

I was out in my yard with friends and the police came by asking about the reports of gunshots and we did hear a loud bang, but it was obviously fireworks. A loud bang and kids running with hoodies does not always equate to gang issues.

What about all the people who work outside of the town but live in the town? The majority probably. Framingham is huge and a wonderful town and I REFUSE to lump people into a category. I know some people who are RANCID who are not "illegal." NO PERSON is an "illegal" you cannot be an ILLEGAL person. I stand with the minorities, the poor, the dispossessed ... as Christ did. "Insomuch as ye have done it to the least of these my brethren you have done it unto me!" Guess who said that? Drugs are EVERYWHERE as are guns!
Man has always had the desire to escape reality to feel better. It crosses class lines and is especially prevalent when economic conditions are difficult. Improve economic conditions, improve education, hire more teachers, more law enforcement and ameliorate the problem. STILL, there is that desire in some for the feeling of getting high it even crosses species as it is observed lower mammals. Personally, I like reality but that is just me. The so called war on drugs is NUTS and a true waste of taxpayer money. As Ron Paul said -- sometimes I agree with him -- if one makes drugs legal and available there would NOT be a run to shoot up and it would take away the incentive for an illegal and violent business just like it did with repeal of Prohibition! The Mafia went on to other things.

The war on Drugs is a scam! People shouldn't be jailed for drugs...they need help.
The reason why they make drugs illegal is so the pharmaceutical companies can make their billions of dollars (on the pills etc, the prisons can be kept filled (with poor minorities who have no money) and to keep the police rosters filled to the gills arresting these people.
Natalie...you contradict yourself here.... "Improve economic conditions, improve education, hire more teachers, more law enforcement and ameliorate the problem"
Thats just making it worse and feeding into their propaganda. Hiring more police justs makes it worse because it becomes a legal problem. Maybe you should of said hire more doctors and health care professionals to deal with the reason why people take drugs and the health problems associated with overuse.
The system perpetuates itself and the more people who drink, take drugs, behave badly keeps everyone else working to deal with them.
All those jobs are negative jobs centered on negative outcomes.....how about more positive jobs based on mans improving the world and not reacting to bad circumstances. But that now becomes a spiritual matter, which is another story.
And Sue thinks I'm a negative person......Go figure!

I'd like to point out that fireworks and gunshots sound VERY similar, you can't really tell which one is which based on sound.

Gunshots DON'T sound like they do in movies lol, it's just a loud bang or pop usually, like a firework minus the whistles some fireworks make.

Sorry I should have been more specific... This bang was like an explosion similar to an m80 or 1/4 stick of dynamite. Yes this could have been a gun, but it would have been a canon. Also, I have heard real guns fire before so I am not basing on a movie sound effect. That being said, if you are not sure then you should definitely call the police.

Nag, nag, nag and more nag about who's legal and who's not. That's all this guy Jim Rizoli always nags and keeps nagging, as if by nagging and continue to nag, the "illegals" will magically disappear. And maybe, according to how he thinks, after the illegals vanish, there will no longer ever be any crimes committed anywhere. No bank robberies, no drunk drivers, no murders, no more shooting of weapons in south of Framingham. The second he found out about some alleged shooting, which by the way, the police don't even have a clue if it was a real shooting, or fireworks, he immediately assumed it was caused by an illegal immigrant. Mr. Rizoli, either take a nap, or take a pill. You're battle about making 11 million immigrants disappear "ain't gonna happen ", so worry about something else. You are not going to change the world. You, like the rest of us, have to learn to accept what it is, and what it has become. Be a mench and smile at some one. You will be surprised, they might smile back!

.22lr can, depending on length of barrel sound like an m80, gunshots aren't necessarily loud, it's all dependent on many factors, I have a .22lr rifle with bullets which you can only hear the clink of the bolt racking, no louder that a door closing, and more like a metallic ping.
then again you could be right and somebody was just messing around with fireworks.

for example : My .38 special S&W 37 snub nose-sounds more like a big balloon popping than what one would expect a gunshot to sound like.
There's no way to determine if it's a gunshot or firework without seeing it or finding evidence. They sound too similar for the human ear to determine one from another.

Guns and fireworks do sound quite similar, though both are illegal inside city limits (at least around here) so duck and cover either way. Now the most eery sound is a bullet whizzing by your head, that will send chills down your spine! On the specific case, it doesn't surprise me, seems a lot of crime is happening in/around 2nd street...

Sounds like the FPD KNEW it was gunshots.... and one missing a baby crib. I wish people would stop just talking about how horrible Framingham is and is getting... I wish the people who didnt like the way Framingham was heading would get up and do something about it. Vouleenteer to mentor youth in the town and help them grow into good people, clean up the streets of downtown (who cares who made the mess), Wash the spray paint off of walls and buildings (when it gets re painted do it again), Make a difference. Dont sit and complain about it, take steps to change it.

Haley....If you don't get the town officials on your side your spitting into the wind.
The police seem to think everything is fine, yet want more men.

You have to recognize there is a problem before you solve the problem.
This town refuses to recognize there are any issues, yet they want more money and manpower to deal with it.
