American Horror Story References Framingham

Early on in the episode Sister Jude and Sister Mary Eunice read a newspaper from 1949 with the headline "Framingham Girl Missing." The reference set off a tweeting frenzy in MetroWest.

Wednesday night, Framingham fans of the FX TV show American Horror Story: Asylum might have gotten goosebumps when they saw the Town of Framingham featured in the Halloween episode.

In its second season, American Horror Story's plot takes place in 1964 in an institution for the criminally insane. The episodes tell the stories of patients, doctors and nuns in the asylum. Famed actress Jessica Lange portrays Sister Jude, a sadistic nun, who runs the asylum.

And in the Halloween episode entitled Nor'easter, a violent storm hits the asylum. (Very ironic for this week.)

In this Halloween episode (#3 of the season) Sister Jude is haunted by her past and a  group of patients plan an escape.

Early on in the episode, Sister Jude and Sister Mary Eunice read a newspaper from 1949 with the headline "Framingham Girl Missing."

Framingham was tweeting up a storm during and after the Halloween episode aired Wednesday night. Some theorized that the institution in season 2 may actually be located in Framingham, in this fictional television show.

Below are some of the tweets:

The Framingham reference was pretty freaky, but it’s always fun when a scary series grounds itself into reality. The 1949 newspaper story helped give more background into why Sister Jude is a nun, and even though the asylum isn’t in Framingham, it’s not too far away. I missed last Wednesday’s episode, but just caught up with it since I had it recorded on my Hopper. The huge amount of hard drive space on my DVR helps me keep up with shows when I work extra hours at DISH. I won’t be surprised if it comes up again because it’s a part of Sister Jude’s dark past.
