Kid-Friendly Fun: Whimsy
Take advantage of time with your kids and get out and enjoy Whimsy. Your Patch Passport gives you options for great local spots for kid-friendly fun.
For anyone looking to tap into their child’s imagination, Whimsy arts and crafts studio is the place to go. Conveniently located right off Route 9, Whimsy has a variety of activities sure to keep both little and big hands busy for hours! Whimsy’s is a popular birthday party venue as well, hosting eight to 10 parties a week.
According to Lori Karisson, director of fun and creativity, Whimsy offers something for everyone. She is hard pressed to name the most popular activity commenting that, “Our mosaics fly off the shelves to both young and old. Butterflies and geckos are a hit with the kids, trivets and house number signs for the parents. Our stuffed animal parties are always a hit, with the kids doing all the stuffing and designing their own animal shirts as well. For our explorers and collectors there’s the mining sluice where they can pan for gemstones or fossils.”
For Karisson, Whimsy is a labor of love. She finds great joy and satisfaction in being able to provide a space for children and their families to get back to basics. And, because she values creativity as an integral part of learning she is happy to see the pride and sense of accomplishment the kids have when creating a project at Whimsy.
In Karrison’s words, “Whimsy is peace of mind. It is a place that works for a family or a large group with lots of different ages. It’s nurturing. It’s fun. It’s creative. It’s not just painting a birdhouse or stuffing a unicorn. It’s an experience—a destination vs. just an activity.”
