Knockouts & Prisms Voted Best Place To Get A Haircut [VIDEO]
In our latest Readers' Choice Best of Framingham poll, we awarded Knockouts Haircuts for Men as the best place for men and Prisms Hair Design Studio as the best place for women.
In our Readers' Choice Best of Framingham contest this week, more than 1,745 voters cast their ballots for the best place to get a hair cut in Framingham.
And the winners are:
Knockouts Haircuts for Men - best place for men to get a hair cut
Prisms Hair Design Studio - best place for women to get a hair cut
Knockouts easily won the poll part of the contest with 32% of the votes or 572 votes. Prisms had 21% of the vote or 368 votes.
"We are honored to be Framingham's number one place for men's grooming. Thanks to all of our clients and fans for voting us number 1. We look forward to continuing our outstanding customer service," said shift manager Melissa Lenihan, speaking for the Knockouts.
But in the reviews and comment portion of the contest, clients of Prisms Hair Design Studio had a lot to say. Prisms had three times as many reviews and comments than Knockouts, and easily won that portion of the contest.
" I love my clients," said Prisms Hair Design Studio owner Lee Rudman. "They are like family." She said when a client comes in it is like catching up with a friend. "And there is nothing better than making someone feel better about themselves."
Rudman's customers agree.
"Prism Hair Design Studio is amazing. Lee does the best job with color and give a fabulous cut and awesome updos. Not to mention that she has a personable endearing personality that keeps you wanting to come back not only to get beautified but also for the conversation," wrote Kristina on Framingham Patch.
"I have been going to Lee at Prism Hair Design forever. I get so many compliments on my haircut, strangers will ask where I go. I always refer them to Lee and Faryn too! Wouldn't miss a chance to go to the shop. We share so many funny stories! It's the best," wrote Lisa Steedman on Framingham Patch.
Rudman, who has been a stylist and color specialist for 23 years, grew up in Framingham. Her Saxonville hair design studio will celebrate its second anniversary in June. The shop has three stylists, Rudman, Faryn Wilson and Mary McGonagle.
"As a new business owner, I am incredibly honored to win," said Rudman. "All I have ever wanted to do is hair and make people feel beautiful about themselves."
"Lee has been cutting my hair for years and always makes it look fabulous. I get
lots of compliments on my cut and color, and the best part is it requires little
work on my part since she knows I don't have much time to spend on it. She's
a great listener and offers suggestions that always make sense especially when
it comes to color," wrote Karen Rothwell.
Knockouts, a national chain, opened in Framingham on Route 9 3.5 years ago. Specializing in men's grooming, they do have the occasional woman client.
"We see clients from birth to age 99," said Lenihan. Their clients were not shy on why they love the place.
"At Knockouts: Haircuts for Men, you're always greeted with smiles and excellent customer service. They give outstanding haircuts and I always leave happy. ...," wrote Kevin on Framingham Patch.
"Prior to Knockouts, I'd been with the same barber for over 20 years. I stumbled upon Knockouts when my barber was out on vacation. I've been going there now for almost three years. Melissa is simply amazing. I now even got my hair colored by her. The first time I did it to surprise my wife and I can still remember her face when she first saw me. She loved it. I now have a standing appointment with Melissa every month to get my haircut and colorr," wrote Tim Jones on Framingham Patch.
"With a sports theme, Knockouts is definitely a fun place to get your grooming services. The girls are extremely friendly, professional and skilled. As everyone is good, you don't even have to worry about making an appointment with a specific person. I found it it very relaxing having a hot towel and scalp massage after a full day of stress," wrote C. Matthew.
Finishing third in the contest was The Artistic Edge, with 299 votes and a bunch of glowing comments.
"Jen Brumm the creator and owner of the Artistic Edge Hair Salon, hands down gave me the best haircut and color ever," wrote Maria Glux.
"Jen at Artistic Edge is the best! She does the dry cut method and with my difficult hair creates results that I can do at home which is usually not easy for me. She takes her time and has a great deal of pride in her work. One of the best hair dressers I've ever been to by far and I used to go to some pretty fancy salons in NYC that cost an arm and a leg," wrote Susan Arndt.
Next week, Framingham Patch is looking for the "Best Place for Breakfast."
The voting begins Monday.
