LETTER: Hemenway PTO Calls for Teachers, School Committee To Increase Mediation Sessions
Hemenway PTO requests parents and residents to call for an increase in Framingham Teacher Association & School Committee negotiations to reach a successful conclusion.
The Hemenway PTO urges all Framingham residents to contact the Framingham School Committee and the Framingham Teacher’s Association for an immediate increase in frequency of mediation sessions regarding Framingham teacher contracts.
Currently, the parties are scheduled to meet twice a month, if schedules allow. At this point in the negotiations, with tensions rising, meeting twice a month is unacceptable. We strongly urge both parties to come together on a more frequent basis until a successful resolution is achieved.
Parents, property owners, taxpayers, indeed our entire community has a stake in this matter.
Call upon the Framingham School Committee and the Framingham Teachers Association now for an increased commitment towards resolving this urgent matter. Please do not let our children become the victims of this ongoing dispute.

Given the number of letters on this subject it would appear the union is trying to pull out all the stops to get support - and given the continued requests must not be getting much.
While they have a few of their die-hard supporters, the regular citizen is slowly becoming more educated in what the teachers are getting in terms of benefits, different types of raises, etc. Many of the regular people in the private sector are just working too darn hard for little to less pay than they used to and are having a hard time sympathizing with the teachers plight where the teachers seem to have little sympathy for the plight of the regular private sector employee and the lumps they have taken.
Public sector employees while the economy is in the state that is in - be happy with what you have and stop complaining - or sooner or later the regular private sector people will show you no support and be for firing the staff and hiring from the boatload of available applicants - because that is the world they currently live in today.

This letter clearly does not take either side of the issue. It simply asks for the negotiations to end so as to not further damage the Framingham Public School System and allow our kids to get the best possible education. Everyone has an opinion as to which side is correct and personally- I don't care - I would just like all the nonsense to end.

Carrie the letter does take a side by saying push to finish a contract. Why not just leave things is for now? If you are a teacher you go to work and you get paid for that work. When things get better economically we can talk about pay increases.
