LETTER: Hemenway PTO Presidents Encourage Parents To Support Teachers Tonight

Hemenway PTO Presidents: "Our teachers are currently working without a contract and they are asking for your support to see this resolved."

Our teachers are currently working without a contract and they are asking for your support to see this resolved. The Framingham Teacher’s Association (FTA) has made public information about the teacher's contract requests at:
http://framingham.massteacher.org/file/FTA%20Flyer%20for%20Dec%204%20Action[1].pdf

To show your support for Framingham teachers you can do so in person or via e-mail.

In Person: Hemenway teachers have asked that you show your support for Framingham teachers by gathering prior to the start of the School Committee Meeting, tonight, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at the King Building, 454 Water St.

Via E-mail: All e-mail correspondence to School Committee Members must be sent to: agreenbe@framingham.k12.ma.us Please cc: nancy.a.mcelwain@gmail.com so that we can gauge the Hemenway Elementary response and report back to you.

The Hemenway PTO encourages you to convey your support for our teachers now.

If it is helpful, please feel free to use in its entirety or edit the following statement of support we have authored. Thank you for your time and attention to this very important matter.

Dear School Committee Members,

We recognize that the Framingham School Committee is a dedicated body of individuals who work countless hours because, like our teachers, you too want our schools to be the best that they can be. In that spirit, we respectfully request at this time that your first priority be a contract for Framingham teachers. This issue should not be a distraction during the school year or become something worse. While so many other issues throughout the district also demand your attention, without our teachers those issues do not exist.

All parents of school age children in Framingham are depending on the school committee and teachers to sit down together for the purpose of achieving a contract agreement. We have read Dr. Scott's remarks that a contract could be achieved by December. Please work to achieve that goal and keep the residents of Framingham aware of your progress.

We look forward to supporting Framingham teachers and the work of the school committee to achieve the common goal of great schools - which benefits everyone!

Respectfully,
Your Name & Address
