UPDATED: President: Osama Bin Laden Dead

President Barack Obama addressed the nation to say Osama bin Laden is dead. "To the families of 9/11, we have never forgotten your loss," said the President to the nation.

On the grounds of Cushing Memorial Park is the  September 11th Living Memorial to the 17 individuals with ties to Framingham who died on Sept. 11, 2001 -- Christine Barbuto, Neilie Casey, Tara Shea Creamer, Linda George, Lisa Fenn Gordenstein, Paige Farley-Hackel, Todd Hill, Herb Homer, Robin Kaplan, Barbara Keating, Judy Larocque, Susan Mackay, Laura Lee Morabito, Charlie Murphy, Darin Pontell, Meta Fuller Walker and John J. Wenckus.

UPDATED - President addressed the nation at 11:35 p.m. President confirmed Laden is dead and he was killed in Pakistan.

"I can report to the American people and to the world, that the US has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden," President.

"Shortly after taking office, I directed…the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority..." said the President to the nation. "at my direction, the US launched a targeted operation … No Americans were harmed…After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden”

“The US is not – and never will be – at war with Islam…Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader; he was a mass murderer of Muslims," said the President. “We give thanks for the men who carried out this operation.”

"To the families of 9/11, we have never forgotten your loss," said the President to the nation.

“Tonight, let us think back to the same sense of unity that prevailed on 9/11…this is a testament to the greatness of our country," said the President.
