UPDATE: Koga Junior Killed in Franklin St. Crash; Wife Pregnant

The Brazilian community is mourning the death Koga Junior, who died when the car he was driving crashed into a tree on Franklin Street Thanksgiving morning.

UPDATE 2:30 a.m. and again at 2:30 p.m.

Members of the Framingham Brazilian community were discussing the death of Koga Junior on WSRO radio in Portuguese, on Twitter and even on Framingham Patch Thanksgiving day.

Friends say "Koga Junior" is man who crashed into a pole and then slammed into a tree killing himself on Franklin Street, early Thanksgiving morning around 3:10 a.m.

The crash is "under investion by Framingham Police and State Police accident reconstruction team," said a Framingham Police spokesperson Friday afternoon. He released the driver's name as Ricardo Koga Junior, 31.

At the scene, Thanksgiving morning Framingham Police requested, on the scanner, for the Massachusetts State Police reconstruction team, the Middlesex District Attorney's office and the medical examiner.

Friends say Junior's wife is pregnant. Junior, according to friends is a Brazilian national from Santa Catarina, a state in South Brazil. One friend said his wife is due to give birth in a couple of weeks. Junior is employed as a mechanic and lives in Framingham, according to friends.

Thiago Prado commented on Framingham Patch Thursday "very very sad news - Junior we gonna miss you."

Nayara Martins, who tweeted the Framingham Patch video of the accident, also tweeted "Hate to see once again another life cut short so quickly because of driving drunk. When are people going to learn?! <|3 #RIPJunior"

Friends tell Framingham Patch Junior "came back from a night club, was brought to his home and got into his own car to go out again."

Friends said they suspect alcohol may have been involved.

Police have released no details on the fatal crash.

The crash happened just after the Mt. Wayte Shopping Center at 384 Franklin St.

At the scene, Framingham Police blocked off the road. The Framingham Fire department placed a sheet over the car lodged into the tree and then added a second sheet to block the scene, while awaiting the State Police reconstruction team, which was coming from another Thanksgiving fatality in Freetown.

A neighbor near the crash, who didn't wish to be identified, said the driver was partially ejected from the car. "It is a nasty scene," he said.

Editor's Note: Due to cultural and translation issues our first report reversed the names of the deceased.

That's a nice thought that even Jim would have found it reprehensible Brenda, but chances are very good that "Julie" is really Joe or Jim posting with another alias. They do it on the MWDN as well, and it is obvious as they use the same language and "facts" as they do as themselves, but it makes them feel like others actually agree with their racist and demeaning views.

Rest in peace to the victim. It looks like he died in a way that easily could have been avoided, but that does not make it any less tragic.

Driving intoxicated is NEVER a good choice - if someone wants to endanger themselves that's their issue but when they do something that could endanger someone else that's a whole different story. MY initial comment was directed at "Julie's" second comment (which looks like it has been removed) that this man's life was less valuable and this tragedy insignificant because of his nationality.

Deeply sad Junior was a very hard worker, friendly, pure and sincere heart...
Because of his thoughtless decision, he choose to pay the price with his own life...
Wrong choices? who never made one?
Perfect human being? Please, show me one on earth!
If someone is judged to be so perfect...
Please cast the first stone!!!
My prayer is that the mercy of God be upon him, his family and friends.

Joe,
Dont just assume that because he is a immigrant from Brasil that he is illegal and doesn't have a lisence. whether he did or not there are plenty of Americans who have died due to drinking and driving. It isn't just a immigrant thing to do. That being said its unfortunate that he chose to even go out and party when he has a pregnant wife and a responsiblity as a soon to be father to take care of his wife.

Ah, earth to Susan, If illegals didn't break the law by breaking into our country they wouldn't be driving drunk on our roads. Also I like how my post was removed when I stated facts and someone didn't like them. Oh well free speech gone out the window.

>>Friends tell Framingham Patch Junior "came back from a night club, was brought to his home and got into his own car to go out again.">>

How do we interpret this?

Lets see.....he came home DRUNK......"he was brought to his home".....His wife KNEW he was drunk, told him to be careful, when she should have called the police OR a friend to stop this inebriated man

In the Matthew Denise Milford case the Ecuadorian wife of the drunk driver I believe, called the POLICE or tried to give out a WARNING to stop her husband from driving. This pregnant wife should have called the POLICE. Apparently some "immigrants" know when a loose time bomb is being released on the public roads and they KNOW the damage that can happen to ANYONE who meets this driver on the road.

I hate to say this but this tragedy could have been avoided and this wife is partly responsible for letting this time bomb out in the public sorry to say. This has NOTHING to do with race, hate, Immigration, the Rizolis, or supposed aliases, Obama, or the price of peanuts down south, but bad decisions by HUMANS, a husband and wife, letting a man ALREADY DRUNK take out his car and drive on the public roads. The more information that is being provided here the more this case is turning into an avoidable tragedy......

Joe, these people from third worlds also have the biggest history of spousal abuse and we see it in the papers every day, perhaps she was worried about being beat by telling the wasted husband not to go out. Just a thought. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domestic_violence_in_Brazil

The FACTS:
>>The initial indication is the cause is excessive speed,' Deputy Police Chief Craig Davis said Friday. 'There was an excessive amount of damage to the car.'
Alcohol may have been a factor, Davis said, as police found several Heineken beer bottles in the 2005 Chrysler sedan Junior was driving. Some of them were full, but others were broken and may have been empty, he said.>>

How can this be defended? The man was already buzzed when he was brought home and then his wife KNOWING this let him take his own car for a high speed ride.
Great example for a father to be in any language......

Ann MacFarland, lol, What does anyone's nationality have to do with it? Please explain.

Also, get back to me when an illegal kills one of your family members like they did with Matt Denices family and many others. This is not a race issue this is an illegal immigration issue witch also is a border security issue.

Let me ask you a question: Do you believe that the lives of our servicemen and women are important? Should the troops be brought home so we can spare their lives? I do.

U.S. Citizens killed by Illegal Aliens

Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to 2006 statistics released by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa. If those numbers are correct, it translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens – more than the U.S. death toll of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. That's more than 30,000 Americans killed by illegal aliens since Sept. 11, 2001.

Is this OK with you? Please explain.

Mark bringing up the subject on our troops has nothing to do with what happened to Junior on Thanksgiving morning. So on that note, I will ignore it! It also has nothing to do with immigration either, he was a HUMAN being...when you decide to wake up and show some consideration for others, I am sure there are lots of people out there who think you are selfish, and don't throw my family into this, cause they have nothing to do witg this, nor do they live around here!

Junior has alot of family and friends who are probably reading this, and I am sure they have seen the CAR that you think you know so much about...I drive by the crash scene everyday, and it's sad to see, but until the full report comes out and the investigation is complete, there shouldn't be oh I think it could have been this or that

I understand you lost a family member that was killed by an immigrant but what if it was an american would you have as much hate? I know you wouldnt and you would take it as an Accident. Drunk Driving is a stupid mistake to any HUMAN BEING to do.
there are consequences to it . You should be preparing a fund for AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING. NOT FOR illegal immigrants. Remember somewhere and some how in your beautiful family tree there is an immigrant and they are all HUMAN BEING.
Now instead of criticizing that he is an illegal immigrant ( which you have no clue that he is he might be a citizen just like you and your judging him ) start praying for his family just like everyone did for your family when Matthew passed.

& May God bless Junior and Matthews soul and his family's hearts and comfort them.

I'd be curious to know if this 'great' guy Junior had one ounce of cheap term life insurance. He obviously had enough to go out partying till all hours of the morning with a very pregnant wife at home. When will this younger generation grow up and take responsibility for themselves and their families? I won't even go down the road yet if alcohol really was a factor here...

Cecilia and others, I am Matthew Denice's mother. I have been praying for Juniors family since I heard about this accident. Matthew was not racist and neither is anyone else in my family. No one from our family has commented on this forum or any other forum regarding Juniors death. I do not know where you got your information from but it is wrong. Both Matthew's death and Junior's death are tragedies, two young men killed in the prime of their lives. However, I don't think public opinion will be the same regarding the two. According to the police Junior had been drinking and was speeding. Thankfully no one else was injured or killed. Matthew was sober, licensed and driving the speed limit when he was killed. Nicholas Guaman should never been driving, he did not have a license, was drunk, ran through a stop sign, and despite having people banging on his truck to stop he dragged my son 1/4 mile to his death. Despite the difference in circumstances I'm sure Junior's family and friends are as heartbroken as my family and Matthew's friends. Heartbreak does not discriminate. We have lost someone we love dearly forever. I still cry everyday for my son. Juniors son will never know his father. Neither one of these men should have been killed, it was totally avoidable and that is what makes it even more tragic. Please do not drink and drive. For future reference, any comments made by me or my family will have our real name attached to it or "Justice for Matt".

I'm sure we all agree with Maureen Maloney and our hearts go out to her for her loss, and to the wife and family of Mr. Junior.
But the problem isn't solved in her Maureen's case....there are many illegal aliens that are still driving their cars at this very moment. Non qualified people driving that are like bullets in a gun ready for their next victim.

All tragedies should be a wake up call to make sure it doesn't happen again.
It seems we're just going to have to wait for another person to be killed by an illegal to direct our attention to it again. People usually have short term memories.
This other situation in Framingham is an all together different case.....Thank God no one was killed, but some lessons have been learned about drinking and driving.
My question is do we always have to have someone killed to teach us....

Who are you to judge me first of all George! Look who's being childish, you don't even know me. Second of all there is no going into the subject of alcohol, cause it hasn't been proven yet. Whether he had cheap life insurance (what you call it) or not. Its not the point. The point is a human being died, and is now survived by his family. Since you think there are alot of children on this page, and alot of us have some growing up to do, welcome to the page kid, you will fit right in!

Macfarland - its assumed you are making comments because you want to be taken seriously. The picture shouts out otherwise.

In terms of your comment about the life insurance is not the point - it is a major point. If even one young person reads that comment and says hey I'm bringing a kid into this world and before I childishly go out and blow dough with my friends before putting some protections in place for their family then the harshness of comment produced a success.

HUMAN empathy and compassion doesn't have a nationality, ethnicity, color ect. You can be understanding of loss without agreeing with the nature of a situation. Is it so unrealistic to validate others' feelings of sadness? It is human to mess up and using an article about people's family and friends to discuss someone's life that you don't understand is just plain rude. (Especially when you don't have the facts to back it up). If you want to change something then go be educated and become part of some political group. Complaining and ranting about illegal immigration and someone's life decisions (bad or not) really isn't getting you anywhere. All you are doing is upsetting people that cared and creating a disorganized debate. "Be the change you wish to see in the world"... right? So go make a change and stop hiding behind your computer, being inconsiderate and ignorant. Go educate yourself and stop reporting supposed 'facts' about a case that hasn't even been 'solved'. There is no reliable information about the immigration status of this individual (no INS comment here), nor about the consumption of alcohol involved. To the person who blamed his wife... wow... really? I am so sad to see that there are so many who lack basic social skills, basic compassion and empathy. Everyone is mourned by someone and I can only hope that when it is you in the casket people don't judge their amount of sadness by what you did right vs. wrong.

Apparently a lot of people aren't keeping up with the news accounts written in the paper about this tragedy. My FACTS are quite up to date. The no name people jump into these conversations and look a little news "ignorant", I not trying to be cruel with the word here.

Others have quoted some fill in information not only here but in the MWDN columns that indicate possible SPEED the man was going, ( 90-100 mph ) what he had in his car as to open bottles of beer and quite possible, no use of a seat belt because he was thrown halfway out of the car. That is the INFORMATION I have read in the papers. So please don't throw it back on me for the information.

The papers said Junior was BROUGHT HOME.( someone BROUGHT HIM HOME ) He saw his wife had a conversation and she told him to be careful.( gee... I wonder why? ) He apparently said words to the affect that "he would come back home alive" or something like that. This should put to rest those no name people who drop in here without keeping up with the papers story of this tragedy.

I have no idea if this guy was Legal or illegal. I'd sure like to know when he supposedly got his license here in America, WHERE, and what agency gave him his schooling for the "supposed" license". CAN ANYONE HELP WITH THIS INFORMATION?

Joe is correct that a Framingham deputy police chief told the media that excessive speed was involved and that there were broken and unopened bottles of beer in the vehicle that crashed BUT Joe is incorrect on his interpretation of the some of the other facts. The widow told Junior to be careful before he left to go out in the first place around 10 p.m. Wednesday not when he was dropped back off by friends after 2:30 a.m. There is no indication that Junior saw her before he got into his car on Thanksgiving and tragically died.

There are NO facts that Junior was here illegally -- I have said before that attacks on the widow and nationality will not be tolerated on this site. I think the illegal issue must now be added to that list, unless official sources state he was in Massachusetts and America illegally.

The crash is still under investigation by both the Framingham and State Police; like many other fatal car crashes -- and Framingham has had several this year -- it will takes weeks, if not longer for a cause and other factors to be released.

Finally -- it is Patch policy for those who comment to use their first and last name and not an alias -- say Susan3333 or From Framingham.
We ask this as we want everyone to be able to have a conversation online as if they were having a conversation face-to-face. Think about that as your post.

Sounding so educated Joe you should know that media coverage is never 100% correct, use play of words to insinuate certain beliefs, and use information from places that are not necessarily credible (E.G. this article took a comment from a twitter account... which might I add that at this time not even the person commenting knew what his blood alcohol content was). Also, is a mourning wife expected to report her entire conversation or fight or whatever to media? And we are expecting the news to report it word for word? I can see you have no experience with comparing things such as actual scientific studies and the articles that are reported about them. This is a very similar case. As an aside I'm not sure what use it would be to YOU personally to know that information... or any of it really. The point is that a tragedy is a tragedy and if you have a political agenda take it else where because regardless of your 'intentions' for posting all your comments the only thing you are doing (I will repeat) is upsetting people who cared about him. And if you must know I do have some ACTUAL true facts from the ACTUAL sources, but its really none of your business since the TRAGEDY does not affect you directly. (Oh and guess what the information has changed daily within the actual sources too since they are still investigating it). But I'd also like to know if you ask people for papers before you become their friends since you don't like illegal immigrants? FOR THOSE LEFT BEHIND. SAD.

Were is the immaturity of that thought? I guess millions of people believing the same thought must be "immature" too! You of little faith have a lot to learn.

Creator and beautiful life? How about innocent pedestrians and other drivers? If it is determined that Junior Koga was driving 100 mph or that he was driving drunk out of his gourd, then I have no sympathy at all for him. I'm highly suspicious how a 31 year old man could leave his pregnant life home alone while he's out partying all night. But if he's recklessly endangering the lives of others, then the picture is complete. I'd see him as nothing but a selfish jerk. I will wait for the results of the investigation before I make that judgement, but spare me the "everybody makes bad decisions" BS. Being selfish is not a bad decision, it's a character flaw.

I join the no sympathy club here. Driving a vehicle that has the potential to kill others and yourself when not used according to the vehicles safe limit specifications and the LAW is the problem of the driver.

I am not going to pull out my violin here and play the Oh "Junior" was such a great guy game....He was a great guy...now he's greatly dead and a statistic for all to learn from.

Lastly Ann, you age shows here, apparently you are very young and have no respect for the PATCH rules or Adults. Maturity is NOT something YOU SAY about yourself, it is what OTHERS say about YOU. You obviously need a course in humility and maturity.

Joe keep your rude remarks to yourself.....all your comments show how truly ignorant you are......leave junior alone and his family and friends.....I pray to god his wife never reads these nasty comments....and he was a great, very nice and friendly guy.....your are probably twice my age and have no common courtesy......i guess that does not come with age....but ignorance does....

Jim get a life. someone just died. Stop trying to get attention for yourself. No one needs your help or opinions and free speech has its limits when it becomes annoying and redundant. Your life is passing you by man go watch a play or volunteer at an animal shelter. Don't leave this kind of legacy behind. If the government wanted to deport all illegals they would have done it already. The illegal label is just population control and its obvious. Now go enjoy your life no one needs your help and rude behavior. You are better then this and surprisingly very articulate. Focus on the positive things in life and you will see how this constant dark cloud of hatred will go away. If you have the finances, travel a bit go meet new people from around the globe and make friends. Life is bigger and more complex than you will ever grasp. Now you can waste your time on a program that is just meant to keep an excessive amount of people from coming into the country by scaring them (which is not meant to be extreme). Or you can focus on the real issues that affect all humanity by stoping being mentally lazy and opening your eyes. Sometimes when we are too close to the problem we cant see it from a high vantage point which shows the solution. This land is my land and this land is your land the government is just here to try to preserve it and keep it balanced. Once your opinions start emotionaly hurting and angering people you have gone across the line and no good will come of it. good luck

"Jim Get A Life" -- While I appreciate your opinion, it would have more value if you didn't hide behind a "humorous fake name."

It is Patch's terms of use policy for all who comment to use your first and last name. We ask this so people will be more civil, as if having a conversation with someone face-to-face.

Fake names are not allowed and to continue to post with one, is cause for suspension of your account.

What you had to say HAS value, but please update your account with your real first and last name.
Thanks

Apparently from what "Jim get a life" said the Declaration of Independence would have been "annoying and redundant" Putting together a Constitution that has lasted longer than any Constitution in the world would have been "annoying and redundant". Fighting for Civil rights would have been "annoying and redundant.". Fighting ANYTHING that has bearing on us either through taxes or who is you neighbor, or health issues, or ANYTHING, would be "annoying and redundant"

ANYTIME you want LAWS obeyed you are going to get the "other" side to complain. While it can become all consuming with individuals fights about anything sometimes the fight has to continue because as one highly ethical respected human said:

"it is better to die for what is right than to live for perpetual evil"

Joe and Jim, you two must be millionaires. You seem to always have something to say, whether you know what your talking about or not. We are talking about a man who lost his life, and a pregnant wife, not about god, the bible, or how the stars align in the sky. Stay on topic and on point, have a heart and feel for this woman, his unborn child and his family. Our constitution also reads we are aloud to bare arms, but that doesn't mean we can kill people. "To Jim Get A Life" it's nice to know that I am not the only one that gets infuriated by Jim and Joe's radiculous, partially truth comments about this situation. Thank You Jim Get A Life!

Its very funny comments, like to know which tribe are you? because I'm sure you're not Native American. It has an Italian name, Italian blood and wants to speak ill of immigrants who find themselves in this country? You are crazy! I hope that no Brazilian or another race that has become American citizens do not vote for people like you. Are you a looser with mental health problems. I do not know how you are not admitted to a local straitjacket. It is too dangerous for this country as you have crazy loose in the street.

For what? Stating the obvious! I don't have a heart? Because.....I told the truth?
By the way I thought you were an atheist?? I guess you must be a closet one.

Rosemary with no last name.....Where am I speaking bad of immigrants here?
My goodness! I make common sense heartfelt comments and I'm "crazy" LOL
Listen to yourselves here.....and I'm the crazy one...LOL
I think Ann''s and your comments are crossing the line in regards to personal attacks.

Ann....most disagreements between people are not because of the differences but because of not being able to share and talk about those differences.
So all this is good, as long as we don't make it personal.
If the Crips and the Bloods (rival gangs) can make peace in Los Angeles, I'm sure we can too.

Whats going on guys !
I was deeply sad when I read on the papers about Jr's death, I didn't know him at all, but I sure feel the pain , we all have lost someone in our lives, right now is not the moment to point fingers but the moment to leave social differences aside and demonstrate a little love for another life despite immigration status or any other issue that in my opinion is only taking the real matter away of the discussion, remember that before laws were made and society standards layed out we all were humans beings with people that loves and cares for us and will suffer when we are gone , so please people be kind enough to at least measure our thoughts before translating into words... Laws are there to be followed , that said we all agree that if there was alcohol involved it was wrong of him, but if you think about what happened, specially that a newborn will never be held in his daddys arms ,all that goes way in a split second and only sorrow and pain remains...
God bless us all,regardless!

I don't know what it is but this "diverse" population seems to be making the news more and more lately. Car accidents resulting in deaths, car accidents resulting in deaths to people on motorcycles dragging the motorcyclist a quarter of a mile to his death. The latest a supposed rape by an El Salvadorian upon a partying drunk woman who wasn't his girlfriend but he gets caught because he was at a court hearing with HIS girlfriend. Who knows what that hearing was about.

We seem to have one "diverse" partying population causing all sorts of problems in our area. You let the ship land, you get the baggage. Unfortunately we have to leave the tip for the baggage handler.......
