@John - I'm surprised no reverse 911 to residents in the area - as Framingham State University Police were texting to students on campus to stay indoors and to expect to see heavy police. At one point as our article notes - they even told those on campus whom police were looking for with a description.

As a parent, I completely understand your concern. Once when I was at the bus stop waiting for our daughter a gunman was on the loose in our Framingham neighborhood and an Ashland Police cruiser (I live on the border and both police departments were looking for the suspect) told those of us at the bus stop to get our children off the bus and go directly home and not stay at the playground.

I know the Framingham reverse 911 can be directed to neighborhoods, as when there is a missing person the police target certain areas for the reverse 911 and not the entire town.

Thanks for posting.

As a resident of the FSU "neighborhood" I am VERY disappointed with the lack of communication on the college's behalf. Albeit it's also a FPD issue,SOMEONE should have informed the residents who live on the campus neighborhood of FSU!
