Police Arrest Suspect in Jefferson Apartment Stabbing

A Framingham man, who stabbed a man, took his girlfriend's car, ran a red light, drove the wrong way in traffic and struck a police cruiser, was arrested Monday night.

 

Monday afternoon, police said, Eric Zyzanski was drinking with his girlfriend and another Framingham man at his 1612 Worcester Rd. Apt. when a disagreement took place. It escalated. Zyzanski took a golf club and smashed it into the head of the Framingham man, said police Then, using a steak knife, stabbed the man multiple times, police said.

The victim, a Framingham man, was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston via a medical helicopter. He had 7 to 8 superficial and 2 large wounds to the chest and torso, according to Framingham Police Lt. Ron Brandolini.

After the stabbing, Zyzanski according to police, took his girlfriend's car and drove off from the Jefferson Hills Apartments. Framingham Police said he ran a red light, drove the wrong way in traffic and eventually was stopped by police cruisers near Concord Street and Route 9.

Before he was arrested, he struck a police cruiser and hit a detective's hand with his vehicle. Police arrested him at 5:33 p.m. near the Route 9 and Route 126 underpass, said Brandolini.

He was charged Monday with assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a deadly weapon (golf club), assault and battery with a deadly weapon (knife), assault and battery for hitting the officer's hand with the car, assault and battery with a deadly weapon for hitting the Framingham Police cruiser with the car, failure to stop for police, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license (due to operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol) and driving to endanger, said Lt. Brandolini.

The condition of the stabbing victim was not available, Tuesday.

Zyzanski had two outstanding warrants on him, including one for assault and battery and driving while under the influence of alcohol, said police.

He was arrested by Framingham Police in May 2011 following a crash on Salem End Road. he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and driving without a license.
