UPDATED: Report of Water Main Break on Beacon Street

Residents and motorists are reporting a major water main break on Beacon Street on Friday.

Frozen, shifting earth caused a water line on Beacon Street to break Friday, closing parts of the road while DPW crews replaced the valve.

DPW workers hoped to have the break fixed by midnight Saturday.

There were four valve breaks on Friday, a DPW worker said, caused by valves around Framingham that are more than 90 years old.

During the commuter hour, police detoured traffic onto summer and only one lane was passable on Beacon St.

Stay tuned to Framingham Patch for details as the become available.
