Selectman Wants Police To Investigate Increase in Crime at Motel

Selectman Dennis Giombetti: "This hotel has been a problem for a number of years."

Selectman Dennis Giombetti wants the Framingham Police to look into the amount of crime taking place at Motel 6 on Route 9 in Framingham.

Recently, emergency crews were called to aid a drug overdose victim.

"This hotel has been a problem for a number of years," Giombetti told his fellow Selectmen last week.

"I'd like the Police Chief to reach out to the owners and management - local, regional and corporate level -- and talk to them about the activities going on at their establishment," said Giombetti.

Selectmen have the authority to decide if the motel can operate in town, said Giombetti.

"We license inn keepers," he said.

His fellow Selectmen unanimously agreed the policeshould look into crime at the motel.

There seems to be a crime there every week. And if not there, the Red Roof Inn by the Mass Pike! I think we should close both or force management to pay fines for the criminals they continue to let do "business" there!!!

I go buy that hotel all the time. It's really disgusting. Just this morning I was at the Dunkin Donuts grabbing a coffee on my way out and saw a whole family come out and head towards the bus area. Kids in tow with backpacks, I guess going to school. They live there, very sad that kids would live in that filth.

Nasty looking people are always running across route 9 at night in dark close heading over to the Hess station, for a butt run I guess. I'm surprise there isn't a road kill every night over there. Burn the place down. It's a hazard.

I just wish to note some homeless families are placed at Motel 6 by the state; although the Commonwealth is looking to phase out the program.

I know that's the reality for some families, unfortunately, but it's just so sad to see these little children coming out of that place. I can't imagine what they are exposed to inside there. It really was sad to see this morning.

Agreed, it is an awful situation for a family to be in. I think the state finally came to realize they were trying to help people by putting them in ever worse situations, with some motels/hotels; which is why the program is ending.

When the state's program ends where will the families go?
I agree this Motel is a hotspot for crime and something should be done about it.
