State: Impressive Nail Salon Reused Equipment; Owner's License Revoked

The state's cosmetology board also revoked a Framingham woman's cosmetology license. Her message therapy license was revoked in 2011.

Two Framingham-based cosmetologists had their licenses revoked by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Cosmetologists this month.

After investigators found reused equipment and unsterilized tools at Phuoc N. Lam's Impressive Nail Salon in Framingham, the Board permanently revoked Lam’s license to operate a manicurist shop.

The Board also revoked Angel Som's cosmetology license. The Board entered its decision following multiple attempts to contact the Framingham resident regarding the revocation of her massage therapy license, which had been revoked by the Board of Registration of Massage Therapy in 2011.

The cosmetology profession includes hairdressers, manicurists, and aestheticians. Each of these professions work closely with the public and are regulated by the Board of Registration of Cosmetologists, which seeks to protect the health and safety of the public by maintaining high standards for the industry. There are almost 75,000 individuals, salons, and schools, currently licensed to practice in the cosmetology profession in Massachusetts.
