State Police Raid Southboro Motel; Arrest Former Framingham Man

Framingham Police detectives assisted in the investigation and raid, in which handguns, an assault rifle and drugs were found at the Southboro Motor Lodge..

special tactical operations (STOP) team raided the  Southboro Motor Lodge, 48 Turnpike Rd. in Southborough at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday  and arrested a former Framingham resident, 20, wanted on firearms and drug distribution charges.

When the State Police STOP Team members raided the room at the motor lodge, they arrested Robert R. Ryan, 20, and a woman he was with. Police found on the headboard of the room’s bed a loaded .40 caliber Glock handgun. Further search of the motor lodge by members of the State Police violent fugitive apprehension section and detectives from the and Southboro Police led to the recovery of a .223 assault rifle, a .380 caliber handgun, multiple .40 caliber and .223 caliber rounds of ammunition, cocaine, heroin, and cash. Also found was a bill of sale from New Hampshire, under a different name, for a .40 caliber gun and a .223 assault rifle, according to a state police press release.

 State Police troopers and Framingham Police tracked Ryan to the motor lodge on Monday and obtained a no-knock search warrant from the Westboro District Court, according to state police.

The STOP Team – the State Police tactical entry and special weapons team – and the State Police K9 Section were utilized to assist with the raid.

Ryan,who previously lived in Framingham and is believed to have been staying at the motor lodge for several weeks, was charged with the following two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm, unlaw carrying of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug (heroin), possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug (cocaine) and committing a narcotics violation near a school zone.

Also arrested in room 22 of the motel was Emma Franchek, 19. She was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a Class A substance with intent to distribute, possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute; and committing a narcotics violation near a school zone.

Both individuals were transported to the Southborough Police station for booking.
