Take Time to Vote in the Town Election Today

Framingham Voters can vote between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. today; the only town-wide contested race is for Planning Board where four individuals are vying for two seats.

Today is election day in Framingham.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the town's 18 precincts.

Framingham has about 37,000 registered voters. In last year's Town Election, only 10% of registered voters voted. Officials are predicted about a 10% turnout today, too.

Probably because there is only one town-wide contested race.

Four candidates are running for two 3-year seats on the planning board. They are incumbents Susan Bernstein and Andrea Carr-Evans, and challengers Lew Colten and Victor Ortiz.

Incumbent Selectmen Chair Charlie Sisitsky and current School Committee member Michael Bower are the two candidates running for two 3-year seats on the Framingham Board of Selectmen.

Incumbent School Committee member Adam Blumer opting not to seek re-election. So, there will be a new member of the Framingham School Committee Tuesday night, too.

Incumbent Heather Connolly and Town Meeting member Eric Silverman are both running for the two 3-year seats on the Framingham School Committee.

Teri S. Banerjee is running unopposed for Town Moderator. Former Town Moderator Ed Noonan died unexpectedly last June.

Voters will elect members to the Framingham Library board of trustees, Keefe Tech School Committee, Edgell Grove Cemetery board of trustees, and the Framingham Housing Authority. All candidates are running unopposed.

Town Meeting Races:

In Framingham, each of the town's 18 precincts have 12 elected Town Meeting members, of which four seats are elected each year for a 3-year term.

There are races in a couple of the 18 precincts for Town Meeting members.

In both Precincts 5 and 14, there are six candidates vying for four 3-year seats.

In Precinct 5,  Eric Berkman, Kim Comatas and Susan Massad and incumbents Robert Bois, Janet Leombruno and Michael Welch are the six candidates for four seats.

In Precinct 14, the candidates are incumbents Barbara Benjamin, Jim Rizoli and Joe Rizoli and challengers Sarah De Oliveira, Christopher O'Neil and Karl Rookey. Four will be elected.

In Precinct 1, voters have to choose four out of the five candidates for the four 3-year seats. Running for Precinct 1 Town Meeting seats are incumbents Ted Anthony, Kylon Colinet, Mark Lamkin and Kathy Vassar and challenger Christopher Lorant.

There are not enough candidates for all the seats in Precinct 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 18.

Residents may write in candidates for Town Meeting seats. A candidate must live in that precinct.
