UPDATED: Tree Knocks Out Power to More Than 2,800 Customers

Framingham State University and neighborhoods around Parker/Salem End were without electricity Thursday night, after a tree fell into the road taking down two NSTAR poles and multiple wires.

 

UPDATE: As of 11:15 p.m., NSTAR says all but one customers has had power restored.

UPDATE: As of 10 p.m., NSTAR says those without power is now less than 150 customers.

Residents are reporting no electricity on Goodnow Lane, Gates Street, Parker Road and Salem End Road, near the country club, after a tree took out power lines Thursday around 9 p.m.

A large tree fell into the road at Salem End Road, Parker Road and Gates Street taking down at least two poles and multiple wires.

The outage also turned out the lights at Framingham State University and its surrounding neighborhood, acoording to texts and tweets to Framingham Patch.

The Town of Framingham notified NSTAR.

The power company estimated 2,819 or 9% of the town is without power as of 9:15 p.m.

NSTAR estimated power could be restored by 11 p.m. Thursday.
