A group of Framingham families were honored by Framingham Youth Football and Cheerleading in October for founding Healthy Bones.

Started nine years ago, the program is now in its 109th consecutive month.

Six families in the Cherry Street neighborhood - Stefanini, Brigham, LaBolita, Hall, Penrod and Trischitta - have been going door-to-door the first Saturday of each month collecting food and toiletries for local food pantries, since Sept. 2003.

The Heroes Among Us award, presented at home football games of the Framingham Youth Football and Cheerleading program, is sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods. The award began in 2011.
