The Town of Framingham held a short ceremony Sunday at Cushing Memorial Park, on what was the former Cushing General Hospital grounds, to mark Veterans Day.
The Framingham Police Department Color Guard led the short procession, followed by Framingham Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.
Chaplain Robert Anspach gave a prayer and paid tribute to the "defenders of our freedom."
Webelo Scout Nikolai Novak was selected to place the wreath on the monument marking Cushing General Hospital. Between 1944-46 more than 13,800 soliders were cared for on the grounds of the hospital in 95 buildings, built by the U.S. War Department. Later the site became Cushing State Hospital until 1991.
