Where Do You Buy Firewood? What Do You Pay for a Cord?

It's getting chilly. Where can we find firewood and what do you think is a reasonable price?

Temperatures have been dropping the last couple of days, and with weather predicted to be in the 50s the rest of the week, it appears the cold may be here to stay.

To those of you who heat your home with wood: have you already purchased a cord or two? If not, from whom are you buying wood this year? What's the going rate for a cord and what do you think is a reasonable cost?

Share your advice in the comments, and look for input from your neighbors.

$250-300 is a going price for 'seasoned' wood delivered. However I have turned people away selling 'seasoned' wood. Oak needs to be seasoned 2 years not one. Unseasoned word will be smoky and emit more creosote. Burning partially seasoned firewood is also not neighborly friendly.
Get yourself a moisture tester. Less than $20 at homedepot. You cannot check the moisture from the ends, but the middle of the wood. It needs to be less than 20% moisture to be considered seasoned. Best way to tell is to split the wood and measure the split part of the wood. Should be less than 20% if selling as seasoned.
