Day 6 (10 days to go): Ashland State Park Reopening

With Election Day 16 days away, we launched a new feature: 16 reasons in 16 days. From now until Election Day, we’ll be unveiling 16 reasons to reelect Tom Sannicandro on Nov. 6 as state representative.

Oct. 27, Day 6 (10 days to go): Ashland State Park Reopening

Yesterday, the state announced Ashland State Park will reopen next summer. The park’s reopening is a result of work Tom did directly with state officials.

Tom’s view of the role of state representative is simple: be the town’s representative to the state. To that end, Tom has advocated for the park’s reopening with Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rick Sullivan, Department of Conservation and Recreation Commissioner Ed Lambert, and Gov. Deval Patrick.

Because of yesterday’s announcement, Ashland State Park next summer will be staffed by a lifeguard, be regularly tested for contaminants, and receive regular upkeep.

Tom has been an effective advocate for Ashland and Framingham when working with state officials, and the reopening of Ashland State Park is just one example of that good work.
