I'm Growing Pickles!

Sorry I've been away so long. I really have been thinking about writing! But at this point, I am REALLY busy. So that thoughtful blog post I have rattling around in my head will just have to wait.

Meanwhile, you might remember that I suggested you grow what you LIKE to eat. There is no use growing, say, a dozen gorgeous eggplant unless you really LIKE moussaka and baba ganoush (which I do....those little babies need to grow faster!)

So when I look at my garden, I don't see rows of tomatoes, onions, garlic, cilantro and jalapenos. I see jars of salsa. And I don't see loads of little cucumbers out there, I see pickles. Because in my house we really eat a LOT of pickles.

I literally started growing garlic because I wanted loads of garlic to use for my pickles. Seriously.

So here you go, this is what fresh-picked cucumbers, garlic, and dill look like. My refrigerator dill pickles are made with those three things, plus vinegar, water, pickling spice (yes, I mix my own) and salt. If I could figure out a way to make the vinegar I would.

Now I just have to wait a couple of weeks until I can eat them. Not long, since I've been waiting for these babies since I put the cucumber seeds in the ground!
