Today is the final day of the Fountain Street Fine Art gallery Spring 2013 member show. Each work of art, is 8" x 8" in size and priced at only $150 in price, so patrons can acquire an original piece of art at a reasonable price. Each work was created especially for the exhibit. The gallery is open today until 5 p.m. and there is a closing reception today from 3 to 5 p.m.
Lara Williams, an eighth grade student at Fuller Middle School, was one of three students honored for creating an original logo for the 2013 Massachusetts Middle School Drama Festival as part of the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild's annual contest. Her drawing was one of three artworks selected as a finalist for the logo. The Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild selected Tewksbury student Sara Axson's art work as the 2013 logo for the festival. March is National Youth Art Month. And throughout March, scores of Framingham Public School students have their artwork on display at the main Framingham Library. The art is displayed in the lobby and in the Costin Room. The public may view during normal operating hours. Artisans and crafters filled the main Framingham Library's lobby and Costin room Saturday as part of the annual Winter Art & Craft Fair.
Once a year, the artists at Saxonville Studios hold an open house. If you missed last week's open house as part of Jingle Bell Day, the artists do sell their paintings, crafts and products via appointment.
Fountain Street Studios is holding its annual Winter Open Studios today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than 40 artists are opening their studios to display and sell works. In addition to original works of art, such as painting, photography, fabric art, prints, and handcrafted jewelry, visitors will enjoy musical performances, portrait demonstrations and book signings. Fountain Street Fine Art is currently showcasing 12x12, a group show through today, May 6. Local artists participating include Scout Austin, Lynne Damianos, Nan Hass Feldman, Martha Little Fuentes, Lisa Breslow Thompson, and Felicia Tuttle. In this show each 12"X12" art is available for purchase for $200. Congrats to Conor Dennin who designed The Massachusetts Education Theatre Guild's 2012 Drama Festival logo. Dennin's winning design will be featured on the official electric yellow festival tee shirt. Dennin is a Framingham High student. The honorable mention in the annual logo contest was awarded to Framingham High senior Lindsay Ortmeyer's design. Dennin and Ortmeyer are among the nine cast members in Framingham High School Drama Company's festival entry The Shadow Box. Saturday, Oct 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. is McCarthy Elementary's annual Pumpkin Fair. The fair features games, activities, food, raffles and a silent auction of pumpkins decorated and painted by McCarthy staff. Second grade teacher Samantha Lowe painted this Angry Bird themed pumpkin to be auctioned off. Another highlight of the annual fair is more than 20 stuffed themed baskets to be raffled off.

Fuller Middle School student Lara Williams designed the logo for yesterday's Massachusetts Middle School Drama Festival. The Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild received more middle school festival logo designs this year than ever before. The Guild chose Williams' logo as the winner this year. The official festival tee shirt logo was set against a kelly green background. Williams was presented with an award at the awards ceremony at the conclusion of the Massachusetts Middle School Drama Festival yesterday.
