An early morning fire at 625 Concord St. displaced two families and caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, said Assistant Fire Chief John Magri. The Framingham Fire Department received a call at 3:40 a.m. for a fire at a two-family home at 625 Concord St. According to the fire report, the fire started on the exterior of the wood-frame building and spread into the second floor of the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Framingham Fire Department responded to a fire at 49 Edmands Rd, the Shillman House at about 10:11 a.m. on Wednesday. It took about 15-20 minutes get the fire under control, said Assistant Fire Chief John C. Magri. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Fire Department estimated a "$100,000 loss." The Shillman House is a$40+ million four-story independent living senior housing complex. It has been under construction for months and is set to open later this spring. There 150 units. In a well-attended ceremony at Town Hall this morning, Assistant Town Clerk Lisa Ferguson swore in Framingham Fire Department's newest deputy chief, captain and lieutenant. Fire Chief Gary Daugherty introduced each member of the department and hightlighted each individual's history with the town, including a couple of heroic rescues. Then, after being sworn in, each firefighter was pinned by a family member. Paul Barbieri is the town's newest deputy fire chief. A small ceremony was held last week to officially promote Rich Garvey to Deputy Fire Chief in Framingham. Garvey, who has been with the Framingham Fire Department since 1997, received his pin on Jan. 11. Recently, both Deputy Chief John McGuigan and Deputy Chief Al Ordway retired. Ordway's last shift was this month. McGuigan's last shift was in December. Ordway, who was hired in 1977, spent his entire career in Framingham.
