At 6 p.m., while other candidates were waiving to voters at polling place, School Committee member Carol Phalen was in a meeting on contract negotiations. Phalen, who was running for re-election, was still participating in the negotiations when she learned she had won. She finished second in a six-man race for three three-year seats. Phalen, finished her meeting just after 9:30 p.m. and will be back at work as a School Committee member tomorrow night. Voters went to the polls today and re-elected incumbents in all of the contested races. Selectmen Dennis Giombetti and Laurie Lee easily won. Giombetti topped the ticket with 2,791 votes. Lee had 2,129 votes. Nicolas Sanchez finished third with 1,451 votes. Eric Silverman finished fourth with 1, 292 votes and Jim Rizoli received 538 votes. Thomas Mahoney, who had withdrawn his name, received 286 votes. In the Framingham School Committee race, Mike Bower finished first with 2,712 votes. Voters will elect two Selectmen and three Framingham School Committee members today. Most of the races in the town election are uncontested, but there are five candidates running for two Selectmen seats and six candidates running for three Framingham School Committee seats. Almost four times as many residents turned out for last night's candidates forum than one last week. Perhaps, that means voters are starting to focus in on the upcoming town election, scheduled for Tuesday, April 5. School Committee Chair Mike Bower held a re-election campaign kick-off event on Monday March 7 at O’Connell’s Pub and Restaurant. More than 100 guests joined Bower and his campaign committee during the course of the evening enjoying food and beverage and listening to a variety of speakers.
