Today's April Fool's Day snow may have been just 5 inches and looked pretty; but it was heavy. Many streets in town have downed trees including Salem End Road, Belknap Road and Grove St. There is a report of a tree that fell on a home on Colonial Drive early this morning.  
If you must be out, drive safely! The National Weather Service has issued a flash freeze warning from now through 4:15 p.m. for most of Eastern Massachusets, including Framingham. Temperatures are dropping rapidly and continue to do so. This sudden drop below freezing will cause untreated driving and walking surfaces to become very icy. Drivers and walkers are urged to use extra caution the rest of this afternoona nd into the evening's commute. Precipitation will be light the rest of this afternoon - mostly in the form of light freezing drizzle or light snow.  
Mother Nature, perhaps tired of sending us a storm a week, is giving us a 1-2 snowstorm punch this week, which will hit us on Groundhogs Day. The two snow storms are expected to hit Framingaham tomorrow and may not end until Thursday morning; although some forecaster say the later storm may end late Wednesday night. Forecaster say between the two storms, Framingham likely will  see at least a foot and perhaps a foot and a half of snow. A nor'easter will likely bring heavy snow to much of Southern New England, including Framingham, starting this afternoon and heading into tomorrow morning. For that reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 4 p.m. today until 10 a.m. tomorrow. Expected accumulation is 8 to 12 inches. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning. Forecaster are calling for a no'eastern to hit Massachusetts, again. Snow is expected to be heavy, and Framingham could see another foot of snow. The National Weather Service is estimating about 8-12 inches. There has already been one postponement due to the pending storm. The National Weather Service is calling for a low temperature of 2 degrees tonight, dropping to minus-8 degrees Sunday night. Wind chill temperatures could actually reach -25 degrees. It would be the coldest weather in six years. And if you love snow, more of it is predicted next week. Another "major" storm is expected to hit Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.   Residents should take precautions to minimize the dangers presented by these extreme cold temperatures and wind childs, according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency Director Don Boyce. Framingham has about 4-5 inches of snow as of 9:30 a.m. Framingham Public Schools are closed. Marian, St. Bridget and the other private schools in town are closed, too.  Framingham Public School parents, change your calendar to Monday, June 20th as the last day of school (for now) - the day after Father's Day. THIRD UPDATE: Friday, Jan. 21, 8:21 a.m.:  With the midnight shift extended in most troops and specialty unit troopers assigned to supplement regular patrols out of the barracks, the Massachusetts State Police  estimates close to 400 troopers patrolling state roads at this time. Patrols and barracks generally reporting moderate to heavy snow and moderate traffic. Most crashes are minor in nature, with many spinouts and cars into snowbanks or off the road. The National Weather Service has issued yet another winter weather alert. Forecasters say Framingham could see 6-8 inches of snow overnight into the Friday morning commute. The heaviest snow is expected around the commuter hours. The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from midnight until noon on Friday.  
Well, the snow has finally stopped, and now it is raining. From personal experience, the snow is heavy to shovel. South Framingham has about 5-6 inches of snow. Temperatures are dropping and roadways could remain slick. Main roads are better than they were this morning, but side roads are still slippery. Watch out for school kids heading home. Speaking of schools, as Framingham Patch reported on its Facebook page, the High School was let out at 1 p.m. to help alleviate the problem the schools experienced this morning. With children back in school today, and very high snowbanks all over town, please drive slowly and be aware that children could dart out from behind the snowbanks. Students may also be found walking in the streets, as some sidewalks are still blocked.

With the snow pelting down and piling up, a deliberate act of kindness could be invaluable in helping a neighbor, especially an  older adult to be safe over the next few days. Here’s a short list of ways to offer a bit of help to an aging neighbor who might be in need of some support: Introduce yourself and provide a note which includes your phone number indicating to indicate that you’re available if needed. 3:55 p.m. SEVENTH   UPDATE --  State Police barracks throughout Massachusetts are still responding to spinouts, stuck or disabled vehicles, and vehicles off the road. "At the height of our manpower, we estimate we had close to 400 patrols statewide (regular day shift patrols plus extra patrols from held over personnel and specialty units assigned to barracks patrols for today," the agency said in a press release.
