5 Things You Need To Know Today: April 16

Framingham Selectmen and Framingham School Committee are both meeting tonight. Also on tap tonight is an after the college acceptance seminar and a Opera Goer's Guide to Mozart presentation.

1. The Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority is holding an after the college acceptance, now what seminar tonight at 7 at Framingham High.

The spring of high school senior year can be an exciting but also overwhelming time for families, as students and their parents begin the decision-making process of where to attend college and how to pay for it. The After the Acceptance seminars provide valuable guidance to families on financial aid awards, calculating the balance due and how to pay the college bill. 

2. Due to Passover, the Framingham School Committee is meeting tonight instead of its typical Tuesday night. The meeting is expected to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the King Administration Building following a closed session meeting. On the agenda is a discussion of the 2014-15 school year budget and 2014 Annual Town Meeting. 

3. Due to Passover, Framingham Selectmen are meeting on a Wednesday night. They will meet at 7 in the Ablondi room in the Memorial Building.

On the agenda is a recognition of the Team Framingham runners for the Boston Marathon, Traffic & Roadway Safety Committee recommendations, a request for a carnival license for the Rotary Club, discussion of Town Meeting Article 34: Danforth Green Drainage access agreement and public hearings on the acceptance and alterations of some roadways in town.

4. The main Framingham Library will host An Opera Goer’s Guide to Mozart’s "Cosi Fan Tutte" with Philip Radoff tonight at 7.

Opera instructor at the Brandeis Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Radoff will give a free 60-minute preview of the opera, in anticipation of the Metropolitan Opera’s broadcast of this opera.

5. Kailyn Elizabeth Krishtal, 9, of North Attleboro passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 peacefully at her home. She was the beloved daughter of Framingham Police Officer Val Krishtal of Mendon and Kristine Krishtal and her companion Lawrence Crosman of North Attleboro.

Today, family and friends are invited to visit Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Mary's Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro tomorrow, April 17 at 10 a.m.  

Kailyn's family requests that friends and family attending her services please wear bright colors to symbolize the joy Kailyn brought to their lives.
