5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 23

Two animal events for families, Town Meeting article review session, Library Trustee Chair discusses and autographs her latest book and Flyers defeat Dover 15-1 all highlighted in today's column.

1. Looking for something to do with the kids during school vacation week?

The Museum of Science will bring animals to the main Framingham Library today from 2 to 3 p.m.

At times animals occupy the same spaces that we do, whether we want them to or not! To be green, we must learn to coexist with the animals that share our planet or even our homes! In this family-friendly program, experts discuss the ecological benefits and potential risks associated with living with animals and meet some live examples. Program is recommended for school-aged children, kindergarten and older.

2. Do your kids now want to see more animals?

The Records & Burpee's Children's Traveling Zoo is set up in the parking lot of Pinefield Shopping Center in Saxonville through Sunday, April 27. There are ponies and camels (which you can ride for a small fee) and goats, sheep, llamas, and alpacas (which you can feed for 25 cents). The hours are 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., except Sunday, when it will close at 5 p.m.

3. Congrats to the Framingham High boys lacrosse team, who defeated a team from Dover, NH, Tuesday afternoon 15-1.

4. There is a Review and Discussion of the 2014 Annual Town Meeting Warrant Articles with Framingham Town Manager Bob Halpin and Framingham Moderator Teri Banerjee tonight at 7 in the Blumer Room inside the Memorial Building. All Town Meeting members, as well as the public, are invited.

5. As part of National Library Week, Dr. Elizabeth F. Fideler, with the Sloan Center for Aging at Work at Boston College and Chair of the Framingham Public Library Trustees will speak about her new book Men Still at Work: Professional’s Over Sixty And On The Job at 7 at the main Framingham Library.
