5 Things You Need To Know Today: July 10

You are invited to a 140th birthday party celebration, a free screening of The LEGO Movie and to try PB&J and Cocoa-Nut Barrel Aged Framinghammer beer in today's column.

1. The Independent Association of Framingham State Alumni is inviting the community to celebrate its 140th anniversary with a cake and an open house today from 1 to 5 p.m.  

A cake cutting is scheduled for 1 p.m. and cake, cookies, lemonade, and iced tea will be served throughout the afternoon. Attendees are also invited to view the 140th Anniversary Celebration Exhibit at Alumni House, located at 42 Adams Road. 

2. Jack's Abby Brewing released bottles of its PB&J and Cocoa-Nut Barrel Aged Framinghammer yesterday, July 9.

3. The town's trio of beaches will be open today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Beach passes are required for admission, but you can pay at the gate. The beaches are: Lake Waushakum, Saxonville Beach and Learneds Pond.

5. It is family movie night at the main Framingham Library. There will be a free screening of The LEGO Movie, rated PG for mild action and rude humor, at 7 p.m.
