5 Things You Need To Know Today: July 23

Stapleton parents can learn about the new afterschool care provider at a meeting tonight.

1. Gather friends and family members and join the Natick Visiting Nurse  Association (Natick VNA) at Margaritas mexican restaurant in Framingham for an evening of food and drinks. Fifteen percent of all proceeds generated will be donated back to the Natick VNA, as part of the fundraiser. Click here for more details.

2.  The main Framingham Library welcomes Keith Michael Johnson and his Science isn't always pretty presentation today from 3 to 4 p.m. The free presentation is perfect for families with kids age 5 and older.

3.  After 29 years the afterschool care provider for Stapleton Elementary School did not have its contract renewed.

Tonight, working Stapleton parents who need afterschool care between 3 and 6 p.m. can meet with the new provider at a meting at Stapleton from 5;30 to 6:30 p.m. 

4. Max Gladstone will discuss his new book Full Fathom Five at Barnes and Noble Booksellers in Framingham tonight at 7. 

Gladstone is a John W. Campbell New Writer Award Nominee for 2013.  His first book, Three Parts Dead, is a Massachusetts Must Read book of 2013.

5.  Amazing Things Arts Center will host its World Citizens' Cafe tonight from 7 to 9.

The World Citizens Cafe is a place for area residents to meet up, honor their heritage and explore their role as citizens of the world. 

"The World Citizens' Café will provide an opportunity for people to relax, share their unique perspectives and experiences, and explore the possibilities that arise when we think of ourselves, not only as citizens of a town or country, but also as citizens of the world," said Phil Cantor, Framingham resident and founder of the World Citizens’ Café.
