5 Things You Need To Know Today: June 11

Uno's on Route 9 in Framingham is hosting a fundraiser for Framingham Youth Football & Cheerleading today.


1. Pao Brazil Bakery is temporarily closed while under going renovations. A date for the re-opening has no been set.

2. Selectmen unanimously approved a change of name and hours for the former Anthony's Cafe to Waverly Street Cafe, located at 740 Waverly St., at a public hearing Tuesday night.

3. Uno's is hosting a  fundraiser for Framingham Youth Football & Cheerleading today.  Present a Flyer, available at this link or by stopping by Herb Connolly Acura, Chevrolet or Hyundai on Route 9, and UNO will donate up to 20 percent of your check to the local organization.

4. Framingham SafePlace, a support group for people who have lost a loved one to suicide, will hold a meeting tonight at 7 at the Lutheran Church of Framingham

SafePlace provides an atmosphere of acceptance for exploring feelings that are often not understood by others. These meetings are free, on-going, and drop in – there is no registration necessary. Trained volunteers and staff from Samaritans, a statewide suicide prevention organization, facilitate this group. All of the participants are suicide survivors and facilitators have lost someone to suicide as well.

5. In Case You Missed It:  Headed to Cape Cod for some sun and, perhaps, a little R&R this summer? Well, if you’re a smoker you’ll want to forget about that pack of cigarettes.

A clean air ordinance takes effect June 19 for all six guarded National Park Service beaches of the Cape Cod Seashore. This means smoking and its by-product secondhand smoke will be banned at Coast Guard and Nauset Light beaches in Eastham, Marconi Beach in Wellfleet, Head of the Meadow Beach in Truro, and Race Point and Herring Cove beaches at the cape’s end in Provincetown.
